Well, the lady whose house we want to buy has made an offer on a house she wants to buy and it has been accepted. Now we hope she’ll accept our offer on her house, then the wheels can be set in motion for the move to “The Big House”, as we call it. I’m hoping the similarities to a maximum security emprisonment facility are limited to our pet name for the place. For years and years, as long as I can remember, whenever I bought a console it has survived until the day I eBayed it. Then, we decided to buy some Xbox 360s for Phantasy Star Universe. After a while, my first 360 started freezing randomly whilst playing. I took it back to Game and swapped it for a new one – it’s handy knowing someone who works in a game shop. Then Jane’s first 360 succumbed to the Three Red Lights, it was sent to Germany for repairs, and it lasted for a good while until it finally red ringed again quite recently. We sent it back again, and this time they replaced it with a new one. Now, my second 360 has died, E74 error. It’s had a stupendous innings though all things considered, and I’ve really pushed it at times, with marathon PSU sessions and Halo 3 all-nighters. I hope they send me a replacement rather than a repair job though, as Jane’s 360 that was repaired never quite seemed to be quite right. One of the things I’ve learned living here is to always check the toilet seat before you sit down. I think Jane’s brother must stand three feet away from the toilet, close his eyes and hope for the best. …and I did not know where to start. I’ve only recently discovered the joy of reading. Apart from reading all seven Harry Potter books a few years ago, the last time I read a book was probably at school, a very long time ago indeed. I always preferred comics to books, as they had pretty pictures to look at. But that all changed when Jane, who more often than not has her head in a book, recommended I read The Ice Man: Confessions of a Mafia Contract Killer, by Phillip Carlo. I was hooked. Since then I have read a couple of books based on internet blogs (http://randomreality.blogware.com and http://littlecatdiaries.blogspot.com/), but I really got into it by reading the His Dark Materials trilogy by Phillip Pullman. So anyway, I went into Waterstones the other day and I just did not know where to begin looking. I wanted something a bit like His Dark Materials, some magical fantasy, and ended up with The Better Mousetrap by Tom Holt and A Dirty Job by Christopher Moore, both classified as “Comic Fantasy”. I’ll let you know how I get on with them. Following on from this post… We’re not getting Alpha and Beta. Instead, we’re getting the second Moatoob GBR – only without the new mission that the whole GBR was supposed to revolve around. Fucking SEGA. 7:35 – Went for a pre-tournament cigarette. 7:40 – Went for a pre-tournament toilet break. 7:43 – Washed hands thouroughly in preperation for tournament. 7:45 – Took big gulp of pre-tournament Diet Coke. 7:50 – Turned on Xbox, ready to join Xbox Live party. 8:00 – No-one in the tournament is online. Played Training Mode. 8:10 – Still no-one online. 8:10 – Garly turned up, we had some matches. 8:30 – Though “Fuck it”, played PSU. |
