Sunday Service: This is in no way a reference to my religious beliefs

Honestly, it’s not. I don’t have any. I don’t do religion. It’s just a post I do on Sundays that recaps the trivial stuff of the week that don’t really deserve a full piece of their own.

My two J's

Jane and I went over to my Mum’s yesterday to pick up and drop off Christmas gifts and have a nice Christmas meal with my Mum, David, Katie and Jasmine. We had to leave a bit earlier than I would have liked due to the weather (that snow, eh?), but it was a lovely meal and it was great to see the guys before Christmas. I’ll be spending my first Christmas away from Mum and David this year, it’ll be an interesting change for me. To the right there is my favourite picture of the day.

The other thing I would like to talk about is cats. We now have five of them living in this Big House. Gizmo, Smudge are ours, Jane’s parent’s cat is Tigger, and Claire, Matt and the boys have provided us with two more: Smudge and Twinkle. Yes, we now have two cats named Smudge – but don’t panic – I’ve started a subtle campaign to forever alter the second Smudge’s name to Smudge Two. Every opportunity I get, I refer to her as such, and it’s caught on so well that I’ve moved on to calling her Two-two and Twoey.

Also, having so many cats has lead to many more feline confrontations. It always seems to be either Twinkle or Tigger in the middle of it. Being chased by Ethan doesn’t help things either. Gizmo spends most of his time under our bed instead of on top of it nowadays, as Ethan regularly invites himself into our room and terrorises him, and Smudge has developed a weeping eye, something I’m sure is due to the stress of Not Being Safe Anywhere.

Smudge Two seems to have a mild form of Cerebellar Hypoplasia, her rear legs seldom work in tandem with her front. It makes her incredibly endearing, and she never seems to be the cause of any of the LOUD MEOWS and subsequent scrabbling chasing noises. For more information on Cerebellar Hypoplasia, see this Youtube.

Maybe next week I’ll tell you which cat likes to piss on beds and shit wherever they please.

Sunday Service: Feeling ill

Not massively, just a little bunged up. Sudafed is really good though, as are those Beechams Hot Berry flu remedy drinks – I’ll be back to my best in no time.

I’m really enjoying Arkham Asylum, it’s so full of magnificent little touches: When Scarecrow gasses you and the game pretends your Xbox has fried, try to skip the broken cut-scene and instead of the usual “press the red B button” to skip, you get a “press the purple J button to skip”. Then there’s the “Use the middle stick to dodge Joker’s bullets”, funny.

On a related Batman note, I bought The Dark Knight in Asda for £5. It was so good I watched it twice – absolutely amazing film. The Joker was as awesome as everyone said, but I also really enjoyed watching Harvey Dent being built up, then Two Face being knocked down.

I won’t comment on the move just yet, we’re still finding our feet yet, so it’d be unfair to moan on here about everyone and everything at this point. Although I will say the house is lovely, loads of decent sized rooms and a really nice Kitchen/Lounge dining area.

LOLcat of the week: Pawsed (lol)

Yes, I know it’s not Tuesday, but I’ve not done one in a while, so shut it.

And we're back

Just a quick note to say, among other things, we’re back online.

The house move went smoothly and the internet has been transferred over so we can do online stuff again.

Yesterday was my Birthday! I am now 31 years old – but I don’t feel a day older than 25. I got a new phone from Jane, my Mum got me Star Trek on DVD (which I watched yesterday, it was very good – I would’ve loved to have seen it at the cinema) and this year’s Mock the Week book, which contains on average about 20 proper LOL jokes per page. David, Katie and Jasmine got me Batman: Arkham Asylum which I’m loving hugely – it’s a joy to play but also a challenge. I also got two Gamestation Gift Cards with indeterminate amounts of credit on them and a box of Liquorice Allsorts (which I am planning on eating all myself, if I can get away with it).

I hope to get some pictures of the house up tomorrow, there’s too much to catch up on right now to do them today, but I promise to get them up this week at least.

Normal Waves service has been resumed.
